Main Premier League fixtures 2022/23

Confirmation of new Premier League fixtures will only fuel the excitement that Tottenham Hotspur fans are feeling.

While there was so much focus on securing a Champions League place last season, in the top flight there will be hope that the team can get going. They may not have enough to challenge the might of Manchester City and Liverpool just yet, but third place looks up for grabs.

Manager Antonio Conte will want his squad prepared and ready for Week 1, when Spurs host Southampton. If they get off to a quick start, then all the foundations are in place for a season not to forget to form.

Last Lautaro Martinez

As Internazionale seek to re-sign Romelu Lukaku on loan from Chelsea this summer, there may be a number of players leaving the San Siro in an attempt to balance the books.

As one of Inter’s greatest assets, Martinez is perhaps one. The Argentina international has been one of Serie A’s best strikers over the past two years and he formed a murderous partnership with Lukaku when Inter won the title in 2020-21.

However, with Paulo Dybala set to arrive at Milan, it could be possible to switch to the £55million-rated striker. Spurs have long been linked with a move for Martinez and are believed to be in the market to bolster their attacking depth.

Eriksen Preference

Danish international Christian Eriksen wants to stay in the Premier League next season.

The playmaker suffered cardiac arrest on the pitch last summer while playing for his country, despite making a remarkable return to top-flight football with Brentford on a short-term deal. However, he looks set to leave the bees ahead of the new campaign.

Manchester United have reportedly offered Eriksen a contract, while Spurs have also reportedly been credited with an interest in their former player. As things stand, it looks like a deal with either of these two clubs is likely, with the Dane keen to play in English football’s top flight again next season.

Adebayor wins legal battle

Former Spurs striker Emmanuel Adebayor has successfully won a FIFA tribunal, which rules he was unfairly sacked.

The Togolese striker joined Paraguayan side Olimpia in 2020, months before the Covid-19 pandemic hit. Football was shut down as a result and Adebayor was sacked in June of that year when fixture lists began to be repopulated.

The 38-year-old has made just four appearances for the club, although winning the deal will net him around £420,000. After spending a season on loan at White Hart Lane, Adebayor spent a further three years with the North London club. He scored 42 goals in 113 appearances for them.
