A major cleanup effort continued across Ontario and Quebec on Sunday after a severe thunderstorm swept through the region the previous day, killing at least seven and leaving thousands without power.
Environment Canada meteorologist Daniel Liota told The Star on Saturday that the massive storm had wind speeds equivalent to a low-intensity tornado, prompting the agency to issue emergency alerts urging Ontarians to seeking immediate shelter for the first time.
