Mr Morgan held glittering parties at his space-race era home, Shirley Bassey was a guest as were the great and the good of Sydney society plus artists from city nightclubs of the 1950s and 60s. Older neighbors from the 1980s recall Sunday afternoon soirees and evening parties to which Mr Morgan invited nightclub performers.

The triple-brick house was party central for Balgowlah Heights back in the 1960s. His son Rex meanwhile went on to establish the acclaimed independent school Pittwater House on the northern beaches.

Number 3 Vista Ave was built in 1955 and has some amazing hallmarks of the time with curved walls, large pictures windows and a stretched ying and yang floorplan design.

One of its other owners was Manly mayor Brian Hamer who served on Manly Council in the 1990s. He and his wife Gai raised their family in the landmark property with its views over Middle Harbor through to the city.

Current owners Lachlan and Sarah Cameron have added a self-contained granny flat at the back and basketball court and converted the underhouse garage into a man cave or rumpus. They have also installed underfloor heating to marble floors.

The two-storey house in on 1110sqm of land and has an interesting layout with a large oval main bedroom at one end and an even larger oval kitchen and dining room at the other end. There is an original sandstone clad fireplace, high ceilings, a sunroom off the main bedroom and a near new stone topped induction kitchen.

Agent Mark Griffiths, of Ray White Seaforth, said there isn’t a straight wall in the house, the rooms are big and gracious, ideal for entertaining, and there is potential to add another storey for even more impressive views. The five-bedroom party house is due to be auctioned on Saturday April 2.
