Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates strongly condemn the “terrorist” attack against Egyptian troops in Sinai

Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have strongly condemned Saturday’s “terror attack” which targeted the Suez Canal Zone adjoining the Sinai Peninsula and claimed the lives of 11 soldiers.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry reaffirmed that the Kingdom stands with Egypt “against everything aimed at its security and stability”, the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

He also praised the efforts of the Egyptian army in the fight against “terrorist and destructive” attacks, offered the deep condolences of the Kingdom to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

The UAE Foreign Ministry also reaffirmed its position in support of all measures taken by Egypt to protect its security and stability.

“The UAE strongly condemns these criminal acts and [completely] rejects all forms of violence and terrorism that are aimed at undermining security,” the ministry said according to the state news agency (WAM).

Eleven Egyptian soldiers and five others were injured on Saturday as they tried to thwart a “terrorist” attack in an area of ​​the Suez Canal.
