BOWMANVILLE, Ont. — NDP Leader Andrea Horwath is set to announce a plan today to cut utility bills and cut emissions.

The party’s platform promises to expand hydroelectric capacity, increase affordable renewables, improve grid-scale storage and achieve major interconnections with Quebec and Manitoba.

They also pledge to implement an energy-efficient building retrofit program, make better use of excess energy during off-peak hours, and end privatization.

Horwath is expected to make the announcement in Bowmanville, as the three main party leaders leave Toronto on the first weekend of the campaign.
