Man dead after shooting in Scarborough Plaza parking lot

A man has died following an early morning shooting in a Scarborough square.

Toronto police responded to shots fired after an altercation in the parking lot of a square on Morningside and Sheppard avenues around 3 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers located two victims with gunshot wounds.

Both victims were taken to hospital but a man in his 30s was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.

A man in his 20s suffers from non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said they were looking for a suspect but did not release a description.

“There were a number of people who were here when the police arrived. The emergency services arrived, the paramedics as well were all on the scene very, very quickly and giving assistance to the victims. So we were able to speak with a lot of people who were in the area at the time, but we’re asking anyone else who may have information to come forward because that helps,” Duty Inspector Jeff Bassingthwaite said at the scene.

Anyone with information or dash cam footage is urged to contact the police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
