Alberta Parks has issued a public warning after saying a cyclist was charged by a grizzly bear in the Kananaskis Country.
On May 12, Alberta Parks issued an advisory, noting that the incident resulted in the closure of Highway 40 south of the Winter Gate.
The cyclist was not injured.

Officials noted that while an advisory is in effect for the area, bears can be encountered anywhere in Kananaskis Country at any time.

In the advisory, Alberta Parks also offered some tips for avoiding surprise bear encounters, including making lots of noise, traveling in groups, keeping your pet on a leash and carrying bear spray.
