Through a series of tweets that began around 1:30 p.m. Saturday, firefighters said the blaze grew from a one-alarm fire to a four-alarm fire in less than an hour. He also informed area residents that power may need to be cut to help put out the fire.

A fire department spokesman said the blaze started behind one building and quickly spread to three other three-story buildings, but no one was injured. He also said more than 100 firefighters were called to battle the blaze.

A five alarm fire is the most serious category used by the fire department and this means that all available resources are needed to fight it.
