Meetings in Shanghai on July 30 and Shenzhen on August 6 have been changed due to “travel restrictions and strict quarantine requirements currently in place for entry into China,” organizers said in a statement on Friday.

The Shenzhen event will be moved to Chorzow, Poland, he said, while there will be no replacement for the Shanghai meeting.

The World University Games, scheduled for next month in the southwestern Chinese city of Chengdu, were also postponed on Friday, while the Asian Youth Games in Shantou were canceled with Tashkent set to host the next edition in 2025.

“The Diamond League season schedule has been restructured to ensure fair and transparent competition as two meetings in China can no longer go ahead as planned,” organizers said in a statement.

“The Diamond League looks forward to hosting events in China again beginning in 2023.”

The new season starts in Doha on May 13 and ends in Zurich on September 7 and 8.
